About Us
Careers
Make a career of making a difference.
Distress Centre has a 40 year legacy of creating lasting social impact as one of
the essential services in Calgary’s network of care. Together, our staff and volunteers
create a unique culture and supportive work environment that sets us apart. Distress
Centre staff do not just have an interest in helping others; they share a commitment
to achieving results. We provide all of our staff with the support, resources and
opportunities they need to grow and confidently create change for our clients and
community.
Distress Centre loves to offer opportunities for growth to our staff and volunteers. Most of our paid staff first started in volunteer roles with the organization. Actually, about 70% of our current staff are former volunteers or practicum students. While we do occasionally have external postings for employment positions, the majority are filled internally. If you are interested in a career at Distress Centre, the best way to get started is by applying to be a volunteer.
