Volunteer Opportunities
Get involved.
Volunteers at Distress Centre make a huge impact on the lives of others. As the
first point of contact for people in crisis, our volunteers provide the compassion,
support and solutions that can literally save lives.
Our volunteers commit time to our cause, and in turn, we invest in them. We provide
the training and support they need to be comfortable and successful in their role.
Volunteers are vital to Distress Centre’s success, and we pride ourselves on creating
lasting relationships with them.
- Crisis Line Volunteers: Provide support, crisis intervention, information and referrals

online support forum. Youth volunteers are accepted from ages 16-18.
- Fundraising Volunteers - Work on planning, sponsorships, marketing and execution
of fundraising events.
- Board of Directors - Provide governance, strategy and policy guidance to Distress

have to say about their volunteer experience at Distress Centre:
“Volunteering at Distress Centre is putting life into everything I learned in my
Psychology courses. I’m learning things my courses didn’t cover. All while helping
people. It’s a win-win situation.” - Helen W.
"Distress Centre is the only place I know where you can always find a room filled
with down-to-earth, modest, everyday heroes" - Vivian C.
"Whenever I finish a shift, I feel like a better person for being there." - Kerina

"I have never felt more supported or appreciated than I do when I'm volunteering
at Distress Centre." - Anonymous
